We welcome anyone affected by M.E., Long Covid or Fibromyalgia, their families, carers and friends living in Northallerton and surrounding areas.
Our Guidelines: Below is a list of the guidelines we follow as a group:
- The group is a safe place to share feelings, and to obtain and provide support, information, reassurance and encouragement.
- Everything said and heard in the group will be treated with respect for the participants privacy.
- Silence is acceptable. no one needs to say anything they do now wish to say. The group is supportive rather than judgemental.
- The group offers respect for individual choices and is sensitive to others.
- Listen to each other and give everyone an opportunity to share.
- Please put mobiles on silent.
- The group is flexible, addressing the participant's needs and interests, and provides an opportunity to reduce feelings of isolation.
- The committee treat all personal information as confidential according to Data Protection. so we must advise that any sharing of personal details between group members is entirely up to the individual and should eb treated with respect and discretion by each party.
Meetings: The group usually meets once a month on the first Monday of the month (barring bank holidays when we meet the week after) between 1.30 and 3.30pm. People are invited to stay for as little or long as they are able. We suggest contacting us or looking on our Facebook page in case unforeseen circumstances have led to us having to cancel a meeting.
Access: Our meeting room is on the ground floor in the Cottage Room at Northallerton Methodist Chapel. It has full disabled access and facilities.
Transport: There is parking in front of the church on the High Street (charges apply) and there is a bus stop opposite the front of the church.
Contribution: We ask for a contribution of £2 per person per meeting to help with costs.
Meeting Notes: These are shared with all members after each meeting
Library: The group has a small lending library of books and DVDs that are available to borrow.
Future: In the future we are hoping to be able to invite a range of speakers to come and talk to the group on a variety of topics that may be of interest such as diet, nutrition, exercise, wellbeing etc.
